Hunter Education and Safety

Three Southport members are certified to teach the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Hunter Education course. Each year at least two 15-hour courses are scheduled at the club.

Cub Scout BB-Gun Challenge

Southport often hosts cub scout dens who are interested

in the BB Gun Challenge. The Challenge was originally

sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

After attending a basic firearms safety course, the cub scouts

shoot five rounds ateach of two targets with the Pack

providing awards andrecognitions for the best shooter.

Firearms & Home Safety Instruction

A good number of Southport members are NRA certified instructors. We are able to provide Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Home Firearm Safety, and Personal Protection in the Home courses.

4-H Shooting Sports Program

The club has sponsored local 4-H Shooting Sports leagues. With the 4-H providing their own certified instructors, this program utilizes precision air rifles in four-position stances.

Boy Scout Rifle-Shooting Merit Badge

Three Southport members are certified with the Three Harbors

Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The club

provides equipment, firearms, ammunition and other expendables for earning the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge..
